What is marketing?

If we ask several people about the definition of marketing ,we will always get different definitions, even some marketer and product manager will find it difficult to explain clear definition of marketing ,and of course the big problem related to the differences between marketing and sales .

There was several definition of marketing as below

Identifying and meeting human and social needs, also defined as “meeting needs profitably

It is a total system of business activities designed to plan, price, promote and distribute want-satisfying products to target markets in order to achieve organizational objectives.

As per Chartered Institute of Marketing “The management process for identifying, anticipating and satisfying customer requirements profitably.”

As per Philip kotler which we consider the father of marketing  Marketing is the human activity directed at satisfying human needs and wants through an exchange process.

Different between Sales and marketing.

Looking to the big picture marketing simply is everything that you do to reach and persuade customer and the sales process is everything that you do to close the sale and get a LPO.

We can summarize the differences between sales and marketing as below
